What More Would I Like To Learn?

I have learned about computers for three months, and I could get a lot of information about computer. Now, there are two more things that I want to be able to with computer. First, I'd like to master typing fast and correctly. This class is not a typing class but I found it useful to get used to typing keys with computer fast. For example, when I write an essay, I can save my time if I could type fast and correctly. Second, I’d like to know how to manage my computer problem properly in terms of structure of computer. In fact, I am a terrible computer user. For instance, after I dropped my laptop, it sounds strange and heat cooler (I’m not sure what it is called) didn’t work. However, when I dropped it again on purpose, it started to work correctly!!! Therefore, I need to learn how to be kind to computers by learning their structure….Anyway, I won’t be able to live without computers from now and forever!

Viral Video

Actually, I didn’t know the word "viral video" at all and even never heard of it. According to Wikipedia, viral video is a video that is shared on the Internet by using e-mail, blogs and so on. Viral video is becoming popular and widespread recently, and these videos have humorous contents. Saturday Night Live's Lazy Sunday and Star Wars kid are examples of fomous and interesting viral videos. The reason why viral video became hot is that we can meke videos easily because of the development of video making program. As we know, we can record a video even with mobile phone, and with computers more easily. So, please try to find your favorite viral video and to make your own video if possible.

What Will Computers be Like in the Future?

Apparently, the future of computers has no limit and people will expect more and more efficiency of computers. Now I hope for some of computer development at the point of my daily life. First, the size of computers could be smaller though the quality of hardware remains high. Although there are small computers sold now, those are expensive for me to buy as a student. I basically use my computer for my paper and project such as power point, so if my computer became light and handy, I could bring it anywhere, and do my homework. To tell the truth, I do not need any more programs for computer because I can do anything even now: listen to music, watch DVDs and TVs, telephone to someone, take an on-line class and so on. The only thing that I strongly need is the inexpensiveness!

Recent Computer News

The University of Florida and scientists from Honeywell Aerospace have been trying to invent a special computer. The computer works about 100 times faster than any present computers!! The purpose of the computer is to manage the satellite and orbiting data. It will be able to run the system more quickly and to decide what they do by on their own. Computer system’s development in durability and protection from cosmic radiation has been at low pace, so this super computer will be helpful more for space project and so on. By 2008, the computer will be made completely, and in February, 2009, the test flight is planned with unmanned rocket. In my personal view, I don’t think this super speed computer is needed by public people like me. The only thing that I thought here is the success of the test flight! What Is "Net Neutrality"?

Net Neutrality is the short term for Network Neutrality. Network Neutrality is the main guideline to guard Internet’s openness and freedom. It enables Internet users to do whatever they want on the Internet; for example, we can watch videos, listen to music, and send an e-mail etc. In other words, the sources on the Internet should not have a kind of superiority. The nation’s largest telephone or cable companies tend to break network Neutrality because they want to control the sources that users can find on the Internet so as to get profit by loading the specific sites when users are searching. However, the high-technology companies are the strong supporters of Net Neutrality; for example, Amazon.com, Google, Skype, Microsoft and Yahoo. My 3 Favorite Web Sites

Today, I’m going to talk about good web sites. In fact, I don’t often use English web sites unless I need to research for classes, so I have no idea about enjoyable web sites… and it is very difficult for me to introduce good web sites. Therefore, although I’m really sorry to bother you, I will recommend the 3 following web sited that are very useful for my academic life.
First of all, as everyone knows, “amazon.com” is a very helpful shopping site. I always Japanese amazon.com for buying especially books, but I actually see reviews of editors and customers in order to get detailed information about English books. When I had book report homework last semester, the reviews were very helpful for me to understand the story and the remark the customers had.
My second favorite site is "BBC". This is practical for my research paper because it contains all of fields of information such as health, politics and education. Also, we can watch and listen to the latest BBC news easily. Actually, I'd like to study in UK next year, so it's good way for me to get used to British English. In addition, have you ever noticed the “Learning English” section? I’d like English as a second language students to enjoy this corner because it helps you improve your English entirely.
Finally, I’ll recommend a free touch-typing program in a web site Senselang.” Although there are a lot of typing test web sites, I think this one is effective because we start with the very first step of typing. For example, “fjf jfjf ffjj ffjfff ffffjf fjfj fj fjjff ff…..” I think it is good to increase my concentration, too!!
I’m afraid that I write too much, but if you have nothing to do on holidays, please visit these sites and have a nice one!

Computer Gift For My Friends & Family

There are a lot of useful things related to computers, so it’s very difficult for me to decide what presents I should give to my friends or family..... However, I came up with one handy intelligent case which can bind us more closely and strongly.
That is …DIGITAL CAMERA!!! If my family, who live away from me, have a handy camera and they can take a photo of them or view of my hometown and send me those pictures by e-mail. Actually, I really miss my family these days because my great-grandma is in hospital now. So, I will be very happy that I can know how my family is easily. In fact, unfortunately, there are too many kinds of digital cameras for me to talk about here. Apparently, a lot of cute and pretty ones are sold these days that attracts me strongly. Yet, when I go to electronic stores such as Yodobashi Camara and Sakuraya, I can hardly tell the differences in functions between those without asking clerks. As you know, they are very kind and helpful for customers. Therefore, the only thing that I have to do now is to save money so as to buy a good camera for my family!

What Is “Social Engineering”?
I have never heard this term before, so I looked up on the Internet and to my surprise, I got 51,200,000 pages! When I saw the word “Social Engineering,” I imagined some kind of good action for society making use of the techniques of computer engineering, but it is completely different.
The general definition of social engineering is to get or steal someone’s private information by using psychological tricks to carelessness of human mind. Yet, in terms of computer, "Social Engineering" means that the action of illegal entry to other computers by stealing the passwords without damaging the computer itself. In this case, it is also called social hacking and social cracking. The general way to get the password is rather silly for me; pumping the password from the user by pretending to be a system manager, staring at the keyboard or the screen on which the user is inputting the password with standing behind the user, and flicking at the paper on which the password is written. Therefore, in order not to let someone see the password, everybody has to be careful in dealing the password!!

What I Want to Learn is.......

As I said in the previous post, computers were always by my side, yet I am not familiar with the functions at all. With my home computers, I have played games such as solitaire, freecell, and spidersolitaire which were originally in software. In addition, my father put a study software into the computer for my brother and me in order to learn arithmetic, Japanese, English and so on. It was really enjoyable and useful, and help us improve our basic skills.
Here in this class, what I want to learn is academic skill with computers. For example, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and so on which can be useful for whatever jobs that I will take. Although I have already known the basic way to manage those functions, there are more and more things that I don't know and to master those is very important because I think I will need efficiency and quality of my business. Therefore, to learn especially these three softs is the first thing that I want to in this class.
Moreover, I would like to learn about Internet including advantages and disadvantages. For indtance, as Mr. Poza introduced to us, Google Earth, Skype, iTunes etc are very attractive for me. On the other hand, there are a lot of dangers on the Internet such as virus and illegal things. I need to have knowledge about those so that I can be careful when I use Internet.
I wish I could learn a lot in this class with Mr. 保座!!

Akko's History with Computers

My history with computers have started when I was born! Because my father is really interested in computers and sometimes teaches computers to junior high school students besides his classes as a science teacher, there have been several computers in my house. Actually, I don't remember when I began to use computers, but the fact is that my young brother and I used to play with computers without knowing how useful computers are. I know nothing about functions of computers in detail, so I take this comoputer class in order to make friends with my computer.
The latest history with my computer is that I got iPod!! I had wanted to buy it, and finally, I bought it the day before yesterday. I was impressed to the functions of iPod and iTunes very much. To find my favorite song and download it is really enjoyable for me. I think I can't live without iPod and computers! : - >
Apparently, computers will develop more useful functions from mow and forever; thus, so as to keep in touch with it, I want to learn a lot in this computer class!!
